Who We Serve

Polhemus has led the way in providing 6DOF motion tracking systems to commercial and research markets for over 50 years. We have worked with partners and customers in these fields to integrate our proprietary AC electromagnetic technology with great success. Our solutions cater to a diverse range of application needs.

Our technology powers some of the world’s most advanced industrial training simulators. It is capable of performance analysis for elite-level athletes. It has also helped top researchers track groundbreaking discoveries in their fields.

We are bridging the gap between the virtual world and the real world as our motion tracking technology provides the most realistic environment experience. Our fast update rates and low latency make our technology the top choice for leaders in their fields.

Applications

Robotics

Our technology supports robotics applications ranging from capturing human movement to train and guide robotic systems, to precisely measuring and analyzing the motion of robotic arms, tools, and autonomous devices.

We've partnered with Shadow Robot to help develop a teleoperation robot with human-like dexterity. This level of precision is hard to replicate and requires high-fidelity motion tracking systems to translate the movement exactly. With our flagship VIPER, we were able to utilize our micro sensors to manage this movement, without any lag time or line-of-sight concerns. Our case study with Shadow Robot can be found here.

EEG Localization

Understanding exactly where electrical activity originates in the brain is critical for many medical and neuroscience applications. Our 3D digitizing technology enables researchers to precisely capture electrode positions on the head, improving test repeatability and allowing EEG data to be accurately mapped to MRI images for anatomical reference and localization of brain activity.

We offer a digitizing solution perfect for solving EEG localization challenges and more. The FASTRAK combined with a digitizing stylus, our products can transform into an accurate and precise localization tool. In the past, this process could take many hours, but now with electromagnetic tracking, you can see the results in real-time.

Motion Research and Biomechanics

Motion research and biomechanics often go hand in hand with each other - one will impact the other. By understanding the exact mechanics of motion, researchers can implement that in their kinematics understanding. Our technology has been used in many research projects, such as this case study in understand body motion in virtual rehabilitation.

Whether you need something wireless (G4), large room-scale (LATUS), or seated and highly accurate (VIPER), we have a tracker designed for your biomechanics and motion research need. All of our trackers are manufactured with low latency (lag time) and high accuracy - giving you the confidence that the motion you're tracking is exactly how it is in real-time.
